Cabbage is NOT good - it gives the little guys too much gas.  Lettuce should
be leaf type and not iceberg.  The iceberg does not have the right
nutrients.

We have a guinea pig and I am wondering what kinds of fresh fruits and
vegetables to feed it.  It likes apples and pears, but I am not sure if
cabbage or lettuce is good for it.

Any suggestions?

Sorry if this has been hashed out before, but I am new on this group.

Thanks in advance.

My piggies like broccoli, carrots, cauliflower leaves, courgettes
(zucchini), red peppers, cucumber, celery, tomatoes, round head lettuce
(not iceberg!), honeydew melon, bananas, oranges, grapes, strawberries,
kiwi fruit.  I also give them grass from the garden and (when in season)
their absolute favourite dandelions.

Try feeding them red seedless grapes split in half and frozen blueberries.

Sorry - have to offer an alternative opinion here - our GPs would
never forgive us if we withdrew cabbage leaves from their menu !
Also good for Vit C.  They prefer the dark green stuff, also kale and
cauliflower leaves.  Don't know if it gives them gas, but it doesn't
seem to bother them (they're don't live in the house, so doesn't
bother *us* either !)

Also - wholeheartedly agree with dandelions and grass.  Carrot
peelings are also much appreciated.
