I have a couple of non-*** Emporers (about 1.5inch body). They have
shed once since I've got them. Before they shed, their plates looked
expanded. They also stopped eating. I too had heard that they could
overeat and then would stop eating till they starved, so I was worried.
I am very suspect of the overeating theory. What I think might be
happening is that before shedding they look fat so people think they
were overeating. Then because of an unsuccessful shed, they die and it
is attributed to overeating. This is just my theory though.  Can anyone
tell me if that's correct?
btw, what is the appropriate way to talk about a scorps length? from
head ot tip of tail? or to base of tail?
About shedding: If you think they are about to shed, make _sure_ the
humidity is up.

If you bought these guys as ***s they may be pregnant females.  If
they are females and are showing whitish grey between the plates they
are more than likely pregnant.  I would seperate them into seperate
containers.  This best container for keeping them is plastic shoeboxes
with damp vermiculite.  They can up to 12 babies, possibly more.  When
they are born they are bright white and will sit on the mothers back.
Once they shed and climb off they can eat on there own.  It's great
watching them eat, several babies can take down one *** cricket and
share it.  If you have any questions just e-mail me.
