Rose Hair Tarantula Problem

Post by Jick » Mon, 19 Nov 2007 07:18:09

So I bought myself my first tarantula. Before I did though I look up
info about the type and how it should be taken care off. So the first
few days I thought I was doing good. Until I notice she won't eat. So
I took her to a pet shop to have her checked out. She look's fine, the
man said. Yet when she was threatened (aka picked up and gently
pressed on) she didn't try to bite or right herself. She won't extend
her fangs at all. So the guy asked me if she was making a web. I said
no. Then he asked me if she was drinking. I saw her once in her water
bowl and that was the first time I had her home. I mist the cage once
in awhile so maybe she could drink the droplets off the side. That was
a no go. I keep the temp around 75 to 85 Degrees but I get nothing out
of her. I know these guys are just calm almost lazy tarantulas but for
her not to do anything while being threaten worries me. So let me just
recheck the list of the things that are wrong;

Won't extend fangs when threatened.
Won't eat at all.
And I haven't seen her drink.

Im greatful for any help. Thank you.

not sure but it maybe that she had a web in cage before you got
her ,but mine had usally shed in a day .mine are mostly kept at 70-75
and reasonably dry .
 is she large?
 NOT male?
 I suppose she is moving
 hope all is well
you have some knowledge so you know then they go for a while not
eating if her weight seems good try drying the cage and make suree she
has access to clean water
