hi. i have just got my first rose hair tarantula and i was wondering if
anyone had any tips on how to take care of them properly.

Yep, give it a little hide, maybe twice as big as it. Don't be
surprised if it rarely uses it. Feed it one cricket every few
days if it is eating, if it isn't it is probably per-moult, so
don't feed it again until after the moult. I can be several
weeks, but don't sweat it.  A live cricket in the cage with a
freshly moulted tarantula of any size can do some serious
damage.

Keep it on fairly dry potting soil or peat moss, and give it a
small water dish. Misting once or twice a week is good. Heat is
only necessary if the room drops below 70-75F which is a
reasonable minimum temperature for them.

Get a copy of Sam Marshall's Tarantulas and Other Arachnids for
a good primer on keeping a spider.
