I will need to purchase a cage for a blue/gold macaw.  I've seen Calif Cages
and Kings Cages listed on the internet.  What's the average cost of a cage for
a macaw, the size, and who is most reputable?  Can they be reached by email?
I've also seen hornbecks as a good recommendation for cages.

Thanks

I've purchased California cages for all three of my macaws. I don't have
experience with Kings cages, but I really like the California cage. I
have the king macaw for my B&G, and my GreenWing, I have the queen macaw
for my Severe. I think the URL for California cages is www.lapet.com.
The large macaw cage with a playtop was $600, which includes shipping.
It comes with 5 large ceramic crocks and manzanita perches.

Judy,

I have had a Kings #136 cage (2 by 2 1/2 feet) for my amazon for 2 years
now and like it.  It's holding up very nicely; I have the silver hammertone
paint - doesn't show dirt and food as much.  As far as I know Kings isn't
on the web but their phone number to order a catalog is 516-777-7300.  Be
sure to look carefully at the cage you want to buy though, some of their
cages have that intricate scroll work along the top that looks like a bird
could get its head or leg caught (mine is one of the ones that doesn't have
it).  I think I paid about $500 for mine, a reasonable price as large cages
go.  I can't find the price list from my catalog but they have a similar
macaw cage that is number 405/406, probably a $100 or so more?

Jennifer

Also, Kings in NY which will reduce the shipping cost for you, many
companies are in CA.  If you are in Eastern PA though I may know a store
where you could buy one and avoid shipping entirely, this is what I did.

Kings cages does have a web site, I think it is  http://www.Kingscages.com  I
have been there before, and e-mailed them for a catalog, so I know it is on the
web.  RKeith

I would  recommend that you contact Brad Broadwell at
http://www.macawsonly.com his cages come HIGHLY recommended by
experienced breeders/owners ppl on the Macaws list.  I bought a Calif
cage; I certainly wish I would have waited for one of Brad's cages.
He has a small business and constructs each cage by hand.  His prices
are actually less than California for a comparable sized cage.
