new baby coming home 11/26(TAG)

I have been reading all about the birds and people in this group
for about a month now.  That is also how long I have been waiting
for my baby TAG to get old enough to come home.  Well the big day
is this Saturday (11/26).  I don't have anyone around me that can
understand my e***ment.  Everyone just nods and kinda rolls their
eyes at me.  I know you all will understand!
I have read a lot about not buying unweaned babies,  but Maya will
not be weaned (she will be 13 weeks old).  I spoke to her breeder
last night and she said she will give me all the proper food and
and instructions I will need to keep Maya healthy.  (I bought my
greencheek conure from the the same breeder.  Ruby was also unweaned
and I finshed the hand feeding and weaning with no troubles).
I was wondering if you all think that I should get a scale to keep
track of her weight.  Does it have to be an expensive one, or will
a cooking one work?    I guess I should add (horror, I know) that
I am at least 100 miles from a avian vet (&  100 miles from about
anything else except a Wal-mart!)  We will be visiting a major
pet supply store the day we pick her up (180 miles away!!) so if
there is anything you can recommend now, please let me know.
(Although I've spent more on accessories/cages for her than I paid
for her)
Sorry this is so long, but *I am so e***d!*

I'd get the best scale you can afford, because of your distance
from avian vets.  Here, we have a cheapo scale with a spring in
it, that measures to probably about the nearest 10 g, but we
aren't too far from our vet and we go there a lot.  She has a
nice scale.
