It's been a very looong time since I've been here

Well I would have to say it's been well over 6-7 years since my last
post.
I have been on many jouneys with school and living in places where I
could not keep my herps( Ihad to get rid of my extensive collection).
Finally I am a young Professional and I have my own place.... and
quite frankly I can do what the he#! I want. I re-started my
collection with 3 Ball pythons aged around 3 months.  Sex unknown. I
plan to get a trio of beardeds, some cal kings maybe some pines and my
all time favs Leopard Geckos.
I used to get my cages from neodesha (does anyone remmber this
company?).  It seems that they are out of business.  Also I used to
get my heating pads from BUSH they had these great pads called Pig n
the blanket??.
Does anyone know where I can get those great "sweater boxes" that
neodesha used to make.
And also does anyone know of the web site that BUSH may be located.
The only stuff I can find is GW related.
Well I am glad to be back... I will be putting my two cents back in as
well as getting it.
Also
I never used to have any animals other then herps.  I currently have a
4 year old cat in the picture.  Since I have never dealt with herps
and domestic mammals I was wondering If I could get some good practice
advice.
Thanks,
George
P.s. Is MelissaK still around She used to be great with the iggies

We have an iguana, a solomon isle skink, and a savannah, plus two cats.  I
let the iggy and savannah interact with the cats, CAREFULLY AND CLOSELY
SUPERVISED.  Never unsupervised. The cats were initially fascinated, but one
good tailwhip on the nose from a juvenile iggy taught the cats respect.
Now, the cats are peaceful and cautious around all lizards, they watch
closely, but keep a safe distance. The skink is very very sensitive and shy
around the cats and humans, will eat from the same food dish as the iguana,
at the same time. (Unfortunately, was not fast enough to get a photo of
THAT).  The savannah does not know about the other lizards, does not fear
the cats. (One cat napped on top of the savannah, when the sav was sleeping
under a towel on the sofa).

Melissa's site is still online, still crawling with caresheets. anapsid.org,
I think.

Well, my cat and dog are afraid of my 20in iguana. He climbs onto the cat's
back and falls asleep and the cat just freezes.
The dog is afraid of reptiles ever since he shoved his nose in the face of a
7in red-eared slider. He ran out of the room, scratching at his nose with a
paw.

Melissa Kaplan seems to be on the Iguana Mailing List over on yahoo

Melissa mentioned on her website that she suffers from Chronic Fatigue
Syndrome. It has been some months since I last read her website, I don't
know if she's still afflicted

Years ago, we had a cat that loved to sleep on top of the iguana
enclosure (it was nice and warm, naturally).  The top had two hinged
doors for access and opened upwards and outwards.  One night, one of
the hinges snapped on the door and the cat was dropped into the cage
before the door swung back up, trapping her.

When we came out in the morning, the cat was huddled in the corner of
the cage with two juvenile iguanas whacking her with their tails.  She
never went close to the cage again after that.

welcome back george. my name is john, and i currently keep 3 ball
pythons, and a corn snake. i also have 2 tadpoles and an asortment of
fish. i am just now getting back into fish, my first true love! i have
started a south american cichlid tank! i am so e***d!

i also have 2 cats, and i have to tell you that you had better keep
your lil' snakes away your feline. my 2 lil' demons think my herps are
very very neat, and often spend their free time stairing at my snakes
and fish. they have also smashed their way into a tank holding my
breeders, (mice), and killed them.

cats are great, but in my experience they do not mix well with herps.

good luck reupping,

john

p.s. man i love these animals!

Thanks for the introduction nice to meet you.
Yeah the cat is pretty interested in things.  She will have to learn
to get along.  I keep my feeding and handling routine the same.  She
either goes outside on the porch or gets locked out of the room.  I
make sure I wash my hands b4 and after. I tested touching my Cat then
trying to handle the snakes. The snakes seem to definatly think I am
something else and both balls have snapped at me. With hands washed
they are very tame.
My cat stays(I love her)
