Put some branches in the cage for your snake to crawl on. S/he will also
need a box to hide in. Newspaper or astroturf make nice substrates, though
newspaper is the cheapest and easiest to clean.

As far as the Leopard Gecko goes, you will need a 10 - 20 gallon tank and
should keep it 80 F - 85 F. Use an under the tank heater or a heat lamp.
Heat rocks are a pain to clean off and a danger to your pet. I had a
beautiful golden skink that died from being electricuted by his hot rock.

Sand, newspaper, or astroturf can be used as a
substrate. As with the cornsnake, your LG will need a hidebox. For this
you should use a plastic container that you can put some moist soil in,
and spray the soil every day to keep it moist. This will help the LG shed
easier.

You will also need a shallow water bowl, and a small bowl (soda cap sized)
filled with vitamin dust. The LG will actually eat the dust from time to
time.

LGs can eat crickets and mealworms as regular meals. Occasionally you can
feed them wax worms and pinkies, but these shouldn't be fed to often
because they're not as nutritious and very high in fat.

Good literature on Leopard Geckos can be found in the Reptiles 1997 Annual
or in the book, Care and Maintenance of Leopard Geckos, by Philippe de
Vosjoli. An excellent book on corn snakes is The Keeping and Breeding of
Corn Snakes by Michael McEachern. It is one of my favorite herp books.

You're welcome to e-mail me if you have any more questions.

It is spelled LEOPARD gecko... lose the caps!  Here is my advice if you
want a leopard gecko:  buy a simple $5 book and get loads of info!  Also,
what do you mean by "background" for a corn snake?
