I have a savannah monitor and a gold tegu, and I don't like using newspaper
to floor their cages for two reasons:
1. since the newspaper moves in big sheets, a large area of the floor of the
cage is uncovered when they scratch on the paper.
2. they hide under the paper instead of in their house, which both moves the
paper and makes it impossible to see even a glimpse of them.
I would like to use something else (like corn cob, cat litter, anything
particulate...) to floor the cage, but a friend of mine recently told me
that anything other than newspaper poses a significant health threat to the
lizards. Is this true? If not, what else is OK to use?
Thanks in advance
Claude
