Dinotopia/Hide your Iguanas, etc...

Post by Mike Howar » Fri, 10 May 2002 11:03:51

Crap...thought about this earlier so will toss it out for discussion.
Dinotopia is coming on this weekend. Whether that's a good thing, I don't
know.

But, since 101 Dalmations drove up demand for Dalmation puppies (and all the
other films that drive certain animals,) I have this sinking feeling that
millions of little monsters are gonna want their own "dinosaurs". And Mommy
and Daddy will begin thinking about Igs or other lizards and you see where
I'm headed...Since all the Dalmations that people wanted and found that they
aren't really great dogs, shelters got stomped. Pray that we don't get a
repeat on this one.

I really do hope I'm wrong...Then again, Godzilla didn't talk and wasn't
cute either.

I saw the show..... The only desire it could inspire is to turn off the T.V.
Nothing to worry about as far as the herps go.

cheers!

Lamer than we have a right to expect from networks, which is unusual. Yeah,
I think panic time is over. Who writes this crap?

Starting to wonder what happened to you...Yeah, the guy with Shirley
Temple's hair and a clown cap has me terrified. "As we live by the code of
Stupidity, so must we prepare to die". Weekly series...yecch. I'll stick to
regurgitating snakes or something useful.

Yeah, I've been waiting for my go-ahead to start this new job (top secret
clearance paperwork's killin' me!) and pack up to head Down Under! There are
three projects in Oz: Sydney, Melbourne, and Wellington. Dunno which I'll be
placed on but that's no matter...I'm looking forward to getting paid to travel
the world! ;c)
As corny as the Dinotopia thing seemed, I think I was captivated by the
animation/special effects of the whole thing rather than the story line. After
all, I'm a big dinosaur enthusiast, so I hadda watch it! Besides the poor
acting of some of the characters (Cyrus Crabb was the only interesting
character with acting ability it seems), the story line sequencing was erratic
at best, and left me wondering what the hell was going on at times.
Still, I plan to watch the series until the episodes get silly...

Dumb from the start, but this is the stuff I used to live for in reading
material when I was a kid (1960). I taped all of it and watched it all
at one time. I would have like to have seen more plot development (hence
the "dumb"). One of my takes on the show is that Disney is promoting a
new ride based on some of the action sequences. Time will tell. Fly
high.

I also liked the quote, "One raindrop raises the ocean". They certainly
made the older generation of a buffonish bent.

Kinda makes me wish I had cable tv or a satellite system or something. It's
gotta beat reruns and divorce court.
