anole with an eye problem

We've had two anoles since the end of February that seemed to be doing well.
In the last few days, though, one has a problem with the right eye -- it looks
as if he can't open it, and the skin around looked discolored.  Today it's
still shut, but it appears the skin around is flaking off.  Could this just be
molting? He's continuing to eat the crickets (and the odd household spider we
find) & he's still active & getting along with the female.

The clerk at the store said it was possible he was fighting off a cold or
something more serious, or just molting, and said to make sure temperature was
kept warm (it is -- 85 to 90 degrees F) and that we continued to offer water,
but he had no other suggestions.

Should we be trying something new in diet, or is there a medication we need to
put in?  Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Lori

If he were mine, I'd take him to a herp vet.  You can find a list of herp
vets at:
