tank stand?

Post by TK Baltimor » Fri, 03 Sep 2004 03:57:17

I bought a 40-gallon long for my corn snakes at a recent reptile show, but
I'm having trouble finding a reasonable tank stand for it (right now it's
taking up a large portion of the end of my husband's desk, which he
doesn't so much appreciate).  Can anyone recommend a good place to find
wrought-iron tank stands?  I've found some places for wooden ones, but
none of the options seem like something that would fit in at all with my
current decor.  TIA!

Hey there,
If you know someone who can weld it's pretty easy to make them.  My fiancee
made the stands for both our LG tank and our veiled cham tank.  Good Luck!

Cheers,
Meagan

tank stand?

Instead of buying a custom made tank stand or having one made you could buy
a cheap chest of drawers (sturdy enough to hold the tank, of course). It has
the added advantage of having somewhere to store snake accessories, such as
feeding tongs, mite spray, travelling boxes, feeding boxes, reptile books,
accessories for any other reptiles you have. And if your snakes escape,
they'll probably hide inside it (snakes are most likely to head for the
nearest hiding spot)
Oh, and you can store your junk in there too!

I picked up a 20 gallon stand for $5 at a garage sale about a week ago. Look
around.....

I'm using an oak entertainment center-type stand for my 55.  There's a foot
of extra room on the end for the 5-gal tank my pacman frog is in.  YOu just
gotta be flexible, and worry less about the room decor than having more
places to put animals.
