Here on Long Island, NY Dr. Russell Burke of Hofstra University is doing
a diamondback terrapin conservation project this spring and summer.  Our
diamondbacks are very endangered.

He is doing research on reproduction and food habits of Long Island
diamondback terrapins.  He hates to see any turtles get hurt on the
roads, but if you find one that has been badly injured, whether dead or
alive, call him.

Students can get credit for their assistance.

So, if you are on Long Island contact:

Dr. Russell Burke, Dept. of Biology
Hofstra University
(516)463-5521 or (516)679-3979
