anole with swollen eye

Can anyone suggest a treatment for a female anole with a severely swollen
eye?  Well, we're not actually sure if the eye itself is swollen, but the
ring of tissue surrounding it is swollen for about 2 mm in width.  We
bathed it in 0.3% saline, which only seemed to aggravate it further.  It's
been swollen for about 5 days, and seems to be getting worse.  We're
afraid to lance it because we don't know what we could use to prevent
infection from (re?)occurring -- normally we use Betadyne, but it's not
safe to use in the vicinity of the eye.

Any ideas

1.  What may be causing the swelling?
2.  How to treat it, ie , topical antibiotics safe to use around the eye
3.  Advice on lancing, especially how to prevent subsequent infection in
the area of puncture?

Thanks for any responses

Seek the help of a qualfied (herp) veterinarian.  There are multiple cause
of "swollen Eye"  some are treatable, some are untreatable, and some are
considered normal as a reptile ages.  Besides would you like to be
"lanced" without the benefit of at least local anesthesia?  Why try to fix
something yourself and lose valvuable time and possibly her eye or even
her life!!
