day geckos

Post by stard.. » Sat, 13 Apr 1996 04:00:00

I just purchased a day gecko, and other than a book purchased at a local
pet store I am having trouble finding information on the care of the
little guy. Based on the descriptions listed in the book I am unable to
determine the particular species. I figured if anyone had care tips it
would be you...
Thanks in advance,
Jodi

Try to describe it, then maybe someone can give you an idea.

Jodi, Phelsuma "Day Geckos" from Madagascar and the surrounding islands
that they come from have different care requirements depending on
species type. First thing you need to do is find out which species of
Day Gecko that you have, most have distinguishing colors and markings.
Once you know what you have read all you can about it. One of the best
books is 'The General Care and Maintenance of Day Geckos by Sean
McKeown'. Then get with a local herp society or get on the net and talk
with others who are keeping the same species as you and find out what
works for them. I have a WWW page with general information on Phelsuma
'Day Geckos' and links to other resources.

If you need help with the species type e-mail me.

First you should dettermine the species of day Gecko's.  I would pick up
the book called  "Geckos" for the BARRONS company. they have some
pictures of a lot of Day Gecko's.  If you want you can e-mail me the
discription of the little guy and I can try my best to dettermine it for
you...  But I'm pretty sure that A.F.H has a book on Day gecko's.  A.F.H
are usally the best book's around (At least that's what I think)..
  Bonzo...

Look for a book called"Keeping and Breeding Geckos" by Herman Seufer.
