Rat Problem progress

Thanks so much to all of you who responded with suggestions and advice.  I
had many possibilities and factors to consider.

Last week, I bought a couple of small have a heart traps and began putting
them out each night with a little peanut butter to attract the rats.  Since
I began, I've trapped 8 rats and "relocated them"  to a dumping site outside
the city.

Another issue that was brought to my attention was attacking the problem at
the root.  I live in the city behind a lumber yard, where I believe the rats
are coming from.  This week I'm meeting with the owner of the company to
address the problem with him and to see if we can come up with a way of
working on the rat problem together and protecting the feral cats who live
there also.

Thanks again to everyone for the ideas and advice.

Sue, I admire your ambition and determination getting those ratskies out of
there humanely. Good luck with a total resolution and I also hope things work
out well for the tabby kitty mentioned in your other post as well as your own
cats. You're doing a lot of good for a lot of animals.
