Post by Helen Mile » Fri, 16 Mar 2001 08:25:06

Chaps, I've added the cats that I missed the first time, but before I post
the list again, please could anyone who wants their current "*** owners"
added, and who hasn't already given details, PLEASE POST NOW!! :-) You've
got a week! :-)

Rainbow Bridge cats will be going into a separate category/Post, but they do
count as they are locked in a secret corner of our hearts, so if you want
them added, let me know!

Mr Yehudah, you haven't posted yet, and I can't remember all of your current
crew!
Cheers

Sorry, but forgot to add that everyone mentioned my previous post is
female.  (Yes, Lucifer is a boy name.  When Dad insisted, Mom and I
insisted on the Lucille part.  Dad doesn't get to name critters of
*any* kind (even cows) anymore. ;-)

Well, I don't think I've posted on this ng, but I have posted on other
ng's and also under a different name in the aol cat folders, so I think
I'll join in on this one.

I have 4 cats.

Shadow is an 8 yr old female.  She is a black and white (tuxedo) DMH.

Sebastian is a 7 yr old male.  He is a Grey tabby DSH.  Well, there
might be a way to describe his color better.  He is darker grey on his
body, and you can't really see any tabby markings, and then lighter grey
on his belly and legs.  there you see the tabby stripes.  The color grey
is sort of like a smoke or a blue, but I'm not sure if thats the
technical term.

Both Shadow and Sebastian were my fiance's cats before they became "our"
cats.  He also had a big black cat named Boogie, but not anymore.
Boogie went to a new home with a very nice owner who renamed him Gatsby.

Now for the cats that were mine before they were "ours."

Tom is almost 2 years old.  He is a brown tabby DSH.
Mary is the same age as Tom.  She is a "torbie" DSH.  Her color is like
a cross between a tabby and a tortie.  Its very beautiful!  Tom and Mary
were named after a song by my fiance's and my favorite band.  The band
is Ben Folds Five, the song is "Tom and Mary."

I do have a webpage in my signature, but if you would like a direct link
to my page about my cats (complete with pictures and links!) you can go
to:

http://www.stacyinthecity.com/pet.htm

Looking forward to joining in on the conversation!

Stacy

Ok...I was thinking... as for all intents and purposes, the four ferals that
I feed(yes, and have had fixed)(and that I have beds for, out in my shed)
are really "mine"... I should include them..Bless their little
hearts...There's MC/MommaCat. a tiny Blk. Manx SH, Jelly Bean, her
offspring(before I was able to catch them both and fix them)Blk.SH Manx,
Outlaw, Blk n' White Tuxcedo and TJ, SH Brown Tabby...also, one
question...when you stated there were 2 Jessie's...in the Name Survey, was
one of them Mine? If not, ...Jessie, SH.Buckskin with White Manx.....Liz

Okay Helen here is the RB list which is long but this covers the last 18+
years. Some of them are the cats of my late childhood/early ***agehood, but
I was close to them all and I loved that all dearly.

Magnet (RB): all black
Doovey (RB): dark grey tabby
Bullet (RB): brown tabby with white
Ginger (RB): ginger tabby
Amber (RB): tortie (mainly brown in colour)
Pinky (RB): grey tabby with white

One more living cat to add who I consider mine as I spent most of my
childhood and ***agehood with her, however she lives with my parents but I
see her *very* frequently.

Granny: brown tabby (a 22 yo cat, who definately deserves the name Granny).

All cats are DSH.

That's it! Thank you, thank you, thank you Helen!

Dewi.

Ok, didn't get to the RB crowd the first time around.  Here they are:

Frasse, grey/white male longhair
Ludde, grey tabby male longhair
Gin, grey male
Tonic, ginger tabby male

It's funny... it's been so long and I still miss them all.

I remember a time when Gin, being a playful little guy of four or so
months, came crashing through the house I was just about to sell,
chased by invisible demons, and momentum carried him up the leg of the
real estate agent with loud screams as a result...

Sigh.

/Tomas

That is correct.  When I started my list six [?] years ago [well, took
it over shortly after it was started] we only listed cats who were still
with their owners.  Eventually people asked whether the pets had to be
cats.  There seemed no reason, so now my list includes other animals.

The next stage was that people wanted to remember cats that had passed
on, and so we included such cats, using RB for Rainbow Bridge.  One day
someone wrote and said they had a cat "Missing in Action", ie it had
walked out one day.  The term MIA was born.

During the last year there have been some people who have commented
that they have cats no longer with them, but they know where they are.
We wanted a term for such cats.  I asked in various places, including
here, and while no term seemed completely obvious, someone suggested
Extended Leave.  Thus EL has been appearing on my list for the last
year.
