Trips to Vet

Post by Lariss » Wed, 31 Dec 1997 04:00:00

Hi all,

I'm taking my cat to the vet for a checkup and was wondering if anyone
can help make the trip less traumatic for him.

He CLINGS to me, wraping his legs around my neck, and MEEEOOOWS in a
tone reserved only for these special trips.  He rules the roost but is
very shy when it comes to other people.  When someone knocks on the door
he hides under the bed, until it gets quieter or until we tell him "the
coast is clear", then he'll come out....slowly.

I feel terrible when I have to put him through this, but it's for his
own good(he couldn't care less when I tell him this!).  I never leave
his side while were with the vet(or there would be he** to pay when we
got back home)and talking to him does help calm him some. A pet carrier
would make it worse.

I would never give him medication to "calm his nerves" for it because
he's 15yrs. young.

Any helpful ideas will be appreciated by both of us.

Thanks!
