Questions Questions!

Post by Shazia A Mazh » Fri, 05 Apr 1996 04:00:00

Hello.

I have a couple of questions about my silly little Ash.
First of all, every few months or so he will pee somewhere in the hhouse
once or twice and that's all.  Anyone know why he might do this? (he's
almost a year old and he's fixed)-could it have anything to do with my
roomate, who picks him up and won't let him go even if he screams and
claws at her?
Also, I'm moving in a while and I was thinking of getting another cat for
him to play with, should I wait until he's settled in the new place, then
get another or should I do both at once?
LAST but not least... this is for anyone in southern Ontario (canada),
who wants a good home for their cat, I am looking to get a cat that has
already been spayed.

Thanks.

: Hello.

: I have a couple of questions about my silly little Ash.

First of all, tell your roomate to keep her mits off the cat! A cat
should not be held against its will to the point of screaming and clawing
at her. Does she have an ounce of sense?

: Also, I'm moving in a while and I was thinking of getting another cat for
: him to play with, should I wait until he's settled in the new place, then
: get another or should I do both at once?

It's probably better to let the cat get settled into his new place first.
It's a good idea to get your cat a playmate. The feline playmate will be
much better than your roomate.

: LAST but not least... this is for anyone in southern Ontario (canada),
: who wants a good home for their cat, I am looking to get a cat that has
: already been spayed.

Sorry, can't offer any help here.
: Thanks.

First of all, get the roommate to quit bugging Ash. The worst thing to do
with a cat is force it to be held if it doesn't want to be held! Second,
and I've got LOTS of experience with this, let Ash move into his (and
your) new home and get used to it for a couple of months before
introducing a new animal. Ash needs to find his little nooks and crannies
before having to face a stranger. Good luck.

Cats like routine, and when there is something that is causing your cat stress,
he can misbehave. Your roommate could certainly have something to do with his
behavior, although I'm no "professional."

You should definitely wait at least a month (which is a stress for your cat)
after you move before getting another cat (stress #2).

Sorry, I can't help you with your last request.

Good luck.

Thanks for all your help guys...I keep telling my roomate that she's
being mean but she doesn't believe me.  Well, I move out in less than a
month so Ash can be happier then.  He did do a funny thing the other day
though, he went to his litter box to go pee(I assume) and as he was going
in, he stopped and peed right on the edge and onto the cardboard that's
on the floor around it(to stop litter getting all over the carpet).  He
has never done that before and I haven't seen him do it since.  Was is
just a matter of him not getting to the bathroom in time or should I be
worried.  Both my roomate and I were sick with the flu (really bad) is
there any way that he could have picked up some kind of sickness too?(I
seems like a really silly question so son't laugh).

:) Bye
